Learn Conversational German in 30 Days
Speak German with greater confidence — one day at a time
Course Overview
Would you like to feel more comfortable speaking German in everyday situations?
Learn Conversational German in 30 Days is a practical course designed to help beginners develop the confidence to use German in daily life. Instead of focusing mainly on grammar rules and long vocabulary lists, this course encourages you to speak, listen, repeat, and practise German every day.
The goal is simple: make German part of your daily routine.
With regular practice, you will gradually become more comfortable forming sentences, responding to questions, understanding common expressions, and participating in everyday conversations.
Why Daily Practice Matters
Learning to speak a language is similar to learning any other practical skill. Reading about German is useful, but confidence develops when you actually use the language.
You do not need to speak perfectly before you start speaking. In fact, speaking regularly — even when you make mistakes — is one of the best ways to improve.
A few minutes of focused practice every day can help you become more familiar with German pronunciation, sentence patterns, vocabulary, and everyday expressions. As these become more familiar, you may find yourself thinking less about every individual word and responding more naturally.
The key is consistency.
What You Will Learn
During the 30-day course, you will practise German through realistic conversations based on situations you may encounter at home, at work, at school, while travelling, or while living in a German-speaking country.
- Introducing yourself and meeting new people
- Greeting friends, neighbours, and colleagues
- Talking about your family
- Talking about your daily routine
- Asking and answering simple questions
- Shopping at a supermarket
- Ordering food and drinks
- Visiting a café or restaurant
- Asking for directions

The conversations begin with relatively simple language and gradually become more challenging as the course progresses.
How the 30-Day Course Works
Each day focuses on one practical conversation topic. You will learn useful words and expressions, practise a model conversation, and then use the same language to create your own sentences.
Days 1–10: Building the Basics
During the first part of the course, you will practise short and simple conversations. You will learn how to greet people, introduce yourself, ask basic questions, talk about your family, and describe familiar activities.
The main focus is becoming comfortable speaking German aloud.
Days 11–20: Everyday German
The conversations become longer and more practical. You will practise German for situations such as shopping, travelling, eating in restaurants, speaking with neighbours, making appointments, and asking for information.
You will also begin combining sentences and expressing your ideas more freely.
Days 21–30: Speaking with Greater Confidence
During the final ten days, you will practise longer conversations and more natural responses. You will learn to explain your opinions, describe experiences, make plans, ask follow-up questions, and continue a conversation without relying completely on a prepared script.
The aim is not to speak perfect German after 30 days. The aim is to become a more confident German speaker who is willing and able to communicate.
A Simple Daily Learning Routine
For best results, we recommend practising every day. A daily session can follow this simple routine:
1. Read the conversation.
Read the German conversation carefully and make sure you understand its meaning.
2. Listen and repeat.
Say each sentence aloud several times. Pay attention to pronunciation and rhythm.
3. Practise both roles.
Read both sides of the conversation so that you become familiar with different questions and responses.
4. Speak without reading.
Try repeating parts of the conversation without looking at the text.
5. Personalise the conversation.
Change the names, places, times, activities, and details so that the sentences describe your own life.
6. Practise with someone.
Whenever possible, practise with a family member, friend, classmate, or language partner.
Even 15–20 minutes of focused practice every day can make a meaningful difference when you remain consistent.
Speak Aloud — Do Not Just Read
One of the most important principles of this course is:
German should be spoken, not only studied.
Reading vocabulary silently may help you recognise words, but conversational confidence develops when your mouth, ears, and brain become accustomed to producing and hearing German sentences.
Speak aloud.
Repeat sentences.
Ask questions.
Answer them.
Make mistakes.
Correct yourself and try again.
Every conversation you practise makes the next conversation easier.
Do Not Be Afraid of Mistakes
Many language learners understand much more German than they are willing to speak. They may worry about grammar, pronunciation, or choosing the wrong word.
But communication does not require perfection.
When you are learning, mistakes are part of the process.
Instead of asking yourself,
“Is my German perfect?”
ask,
“Can the other person understand me?”
Confidence grows when you stop waiting for perfect German and start using the German you already know. The more you speak, the more natural speaking becomes.
Practise German with Your Family
This course is especially suitable for families who want to learn German together.
Choose a time each day when everyone speaks German for a few minutes. You might practise during breakfast, after dinner, while travelling, or during an evening family learning time.
Example:
David: Wie war dein Tag?
How was your day?
Emily: Mein Tag war gut. Ich hatte heute viel Arbeit.
My day was good. I had a lot of work today.
Simple conversations like these gradually make German part of everyday family life.
Learn Useful German for Real Life
The purpose of this course is not simply to complete 30 lessons. The purpose is to help you use German outside the course.
Try using what you learn when you:
- greet your neighbour,
- order something in a café,
- speak with a shop assistant,
- ask someone for directions,
- talk with colleagues,
- speak with your child’s teacher,
- make an appointment, or
- have a short conversation with someone you meet.
Every real conversation is an opportunity to learn.
What Happens After 30 Days?
Thirty days of consistent conversational practice can provide an excellent foundation, but language learning should continue beyond the course.
After completing the programme, learners can begin developing other areas of German more systematically:
Reading — understanding notices, emails, articles, and short texts.
Writing — writing messages, emails, descriptions, and short formal texts.
Listening — understanding increasingly natural spoken German.
Grammar and Vocabulary — strengthening the structures and words needed for more advanced communication.
Extended Speaking — giving opinions, telling stories, discussing problems, and participating in longer conversations.
The first 30 days are therefore not the end of your German-learning journey. They are the beginning of becoming a more independent and confident German speaker.
Who Is This Course For?

Your 30-Day Challenge
Make one commitment:
Practise German every day for the next 30 days.
Some days you may practise for 30 minutes. Other days you may only have 10 minutes. That is fine.
What matters is that you continue.
Day by day, words become sentences.
Sentences become conversations.
Conversations build confidence.
And confidence helps you speak.
Start Speaking German Today
Do not wait until you know every grammar rule.
Do not wait until your pronunciation is perfect.
Begin with the German you know today and build on it every day.
Read it. Hear it. Speak it. Repeat it. Use it.
Thirty days from now, you may be surprised by how much more comfortable German feels.
