Read the conversation slowly. Pay attention to questions about objects,
time, and transport. Then exchange roles and read it again.

| Deutsch | Englische Bedeutung |

| Ich brauche … | I need … |
| die Jacke | jacket |
| der Schlüssel | key |

| Wie lange dauert …? | How long does … take? |
| die Fahrkarte | ticket |
| Los geht’s! | Let’s go! |
Sprachhinweis | Language Note

Therefore, it means 7:30, not 8:30.
Wir fahren um halb acht los.
We are leaving at half past seven.
3. Rollenspiele | Role-Play Practice
Open each activity and practise the conversation with another person.
Variante 1: Das Verkehrsmittel ändern | Change the Means of Transport
Replace mit der U-Bahn with one of these expressions:
- mit dem Auto – by car

- mit dem Fahrrad – by bicycle
- zu Fuß – on foot
Beispiel:
Emily: Fahren wir mit dem Bus?
Are we going by bus?

No, today we are going by underground train.
Variante 2: Nach Gegenständen fragen | Ask About Objects
Use different objects in your conversation:
- das Handy – mobile phone
- die Brille – glasses
- der Regenschirm – umbrella
- die Geldbörse – wallet or purse
Beispiel:
Emily: Wo ist mein Handy?
Where is my mobile phone?
David: Es liegt auf dem Tisch.
It is on the table.
Variante 3: Die Abfahrtszeit ändern | Change the Departure Time
Practise the conversation using different departure times.
Emily: Wann fahren wir los?
When are we leaving?
David: Wir fahren um __________ Uhr los.
We are leaving at __________.
Probieren Sie diese Zeiten | Try these times:
- um sieben Uhr – at seven o’clock
- um Viertel nach sieben – at quarter past seven
- um halb acht – at half past seven
- um Viertel vor acht – at quarter to eight
4. So üben Sie | How to Practise
- Read the dialogue slowly with the English translation.
- Read the dialogue again without looking at the translation.
- Exchange the roles of David and Emily.
- Repeat the conversation using a different means of transport.
- Change one object and the departure time to create your own conversation.
Kleine Sprechaufgabe | Short Speaking Challenge
Without reading the original conversation, tell your partner what you need,
ask where an object is, choose a means of transport, and say when you are
